Compensation for Slip on Airplane Steps Settled Against Ryanair

by | Oct 8, 2012

A Polish traveller, who slipped on wet steps when disembarking a Ryanair flight in Dublin, has settled her claim against the company for an undisclosed amount shortly before court proceedings were about to commence.

Malgorzata Jeneralczyk (57), from Poznan, Poland, slipped on the steep mobile steps and fell to the tarmac, despite holding onto a safety rail as she left the plane. She was assisted after her accident by Ryanair air crew and attended by an airport paramedic.

After seeking legal advice, Malgorzata had originally claimed 38,000 Euros in damages against the company after she was knocked unconscious by her fall, had lacerated her left eyebrow in the accident and sustained bruising to her left shoulder, knee, ribs and her right hand and fingers.

Ryanair disputed Malgorzata´s claim, and the company had prepared a full defence for the case to be heard at the Circuit Civil Court. However, shortly before the hearing was to begin, the court was told that an undisclosed settlement of damages had been agreed with an order for costs against Ryanair.
